Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek Itinerary in Detail
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
- Once you exit the gate of the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by Hi Nepal Pvt. Ltd.’s representative, who will help you check into your hotel near Thamel.
- If time, you can stroll around Thamel, one of the popular areas of Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation
- Today, you have to get all your trekking gear from Kathmandu, and our guide will help you buy or rent all the requirements. After getting all the equipment, stroll around the capital.
- There are several places to visit near Kathmandu, such as Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Patan, or Kathmandu Durbar Square.
- Sleep tight today, as your Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek begins tomorrow.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara
- Drive early from Kathmandu to reach Pokhara, which will take approximately 6 to 7 hours.
- Enjoy the beautiful scenery while driving through the majestic land, where you can witness rivers, forests, hills, and mountains in a single frame.
- If you arrive early, you can roam around the Lakeside near beautiful Fewa Lake.
- Dine in one of the luxurious restaurants near Lakeside and spend the night in Pokhara.
Day 4: Pokhara to Darbang to Dharapani
- After breakfast, drive early to reach Darbang via Beni. You will reach Darbang in around 4 hours from Pokhara.
- After a short break in Darbang, you will commence your trek. During the trek, you will cross multiple suspension bridges and interact with many Chhetri and Gurung locals in villages.
- After a 3-hour trek, you will reach Dharapani, where you will spend your night.
Day 5: Dharapani to Muri
- Today, as you ascend towards Muri from Dharapani, you will pass across many small and large settlements. You might also witness local farmers cultivating land with seasonal crops.
- After a five-hour trek from Dharapani, spend your night in Muri, one of the largest Magar settlements of the route.
Day 6: Muri to Boghara
- Today’s trail leads to Boghara after zigzagging a little and passing through forests of pine and oak. Dhaulagiri I and Gurja Himal are just two of the mountains visible from the village of Boghara, which is situated above the terraced fields.
- Spend your night in Boghara Village.
Day 7: Boghara to Dobang
- After having your breakfast, continue your trek. The trail gets rougher today, with more ups and downs, as you approach a ridge. The trail winds on until it reaches a tiny clearing in the woods close to Lipshe.
- After a 5 to 6-hour trek, you will reach Dobang to spend your night.
Day 8: Dobang to Sllaghari
- The trail continues through thick, verdant fern, bamboo, and rhododendron vegetation. You will traverse the east bank of the Myagdi Khola via a cantilever bridge.
- You spend the night at Sallaghari, near a forest clearing.
Day 9: Sallaghari to Italian Base Camp
- As you leave Sallaghari, you will pass through a pine, rhododendron, and birch forest.
- At Italian Base Camp, the trail climbs to a grassy spot on the lateral moraine. The striking west face of Dhaulagiri Mountain is located high above the camp. The opposite side of the valley shows Tsaurabong Peak.
Day 10: Acclimatization in Italian Base Camp
- For necessary acclimatisation, we spend two nights at the 3,660-meter-high Italian Base Camp. We explore the Italian Base Camp on foot in the morning and then unwind in camp in the afternoon.
Day 11: Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp
- The trail leads down a steep lateral moraine to the glacier from the Italian Base Camp.
- You will travel along the moraine on the left side of the Chonbarden Gorge after crossing the glacier. You will trek through the Chonbarden Gorge's loose rocks across the glacier to reach Glacier Camp.
- Camp at Glacier Camp.
Day 12: Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp
- To get to Dhaulagiri Base Camp, you will travel a rocky path alongside the glacier covered in moraine. With Little Eiger, Tukuche Peak, and Dhaulagiri 1, the view is breathtaking. Dhaulagiri II (7,751m) and IV (7,618m) are located further to the west.
- You can witness climbers climbing Mount Dhaulagiri during the climbing season.
Day 13: Acclimatization in Dhaulagiri Base Camp
- For necessary acclimatisation, an additional day in Dhaulagiri Base Camp. We explore the Italian Base Camp on foot in the morning and then unwind in camp in the afternoon.
Day 14: Dhaulagiri Base Camp to Hidden Valley Via French Pass
- Today is a big push over the French Pass to get to the Hidden Valley. So, we need to eat a healthy breakfast to ensure we have enough energy for the day and leave early.
- At first, the trail climbs, crosses the mountain's flank, and passes over more glacial moraine. Today, you have to be careful while walking.
- From the French Pass, you can have a glimpse of Tukuche Peak, Dhaulagiri I, Tashi Kang, Sita Chuchura, and many other peaks.
- Afterward, descend to the Hidden Valley to spend your night.
Day 15: Hidden Valley to Yak Kharka Via Dhampus Pass
- Today, you have to cross the Dhampus Pass to leave the Hidden Valley.
- After a long 7 to 8-hour walk, you will reach Yak Kharka. In Yak Kharka, you can witness a herd of yaks gazing all around the place. Yak Kharka means Yak pastures.
Day 16: Yak Kharka to Marpha
- After an early breakfast, you will walk towards Marpha after a 4 to 5-hour walk.
- Marpha is one of the famous villages on this route, known for its apple orchards and monastery. You can try various products made from apples in Marpha.
- Spend your night in a tea house at Marpha.
Day 17: Marpha to Pokhara
- It's a long drive back to Pokhara today, along a beautiful but dusty road. When you arrive in Pokhara in the afternoon, you can spend some time exploring this amazing town.
Day 18: Pokhara To Kathmandu
Drive through villages and undulating hills to Kathmandu after breakfast. After checking into your hotel, spend the afternoon touring the well-known tourist destination of Thamel.
