Day-by-Day Renjo La Pass Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)
- After getting picked up from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you will be transferred to a hotel in Thamel or nearby Kathmandu.
- Visit around for trek briefing & last-minute gear shopping.
- Spend an overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860 m), 40 minutes to Phakding (2,680 m), 3 to 4 hours
- After having a peaceful sleep in Kathmandu, you have an early flight to catch the next morning from the airport. After about 40 minutes, you will arrive at Lukla airport in Solukhumbu District.
- From Lukla, you will begin your Renjo La Pass Trek along the picturesque Dudh Koshi River. The trail passes through various beautiful pine forests and some local Sherpa communities. You will arrive in Phakding after roughly three hours of comfortable walking.
- Spend overnight in Phakding.
Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m), 6 to 7 hours
- After having breakfast at Phakding, you will move along the Dudh Koshi River banks, you will pass through Tok Tok, Benker, and the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park.
- After entering the park, you will trek through lush jungles of rhododendron to reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is a picturesque Sherpa town with well-facilitated hotels, restaurants, pubs, and markets.
- After dining at one of the famous restaurants, you will spend the night in one of the lodges in Namche Bazaar.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
- Spend the fourth day in Namche Bazaar acclimatizing to the high altitude. In the morning, you will hike to the Mount Everest Hotel for the beautiful panoramic view of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks.
- Later in the day, you can visit the Sherpa Museum and explore Namche Bazaar’s markets, cafes, and traditional shops.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar to Thamel (3,735 m), 4 to 5 hours
- After adjusting yourself to the altitude at Namche Bazaar, you will continue your Renjo La Pass Trek alongside the Bhote Koshi River.
- After you pass tranquil rhododendron forests, many Chortens, stupas, and monasteries, you will reach Thame, the birthplace of one of the first Mt. Everest climbers, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa.
- Spend the rest of the night at Thame.
Day 6: Thame to Lungdeng (4,380), 5 to 6 hours
- The trail you're on today passes through isolated, high-altitude territory with fewer trekkers. Climb gradually through ancient mani walls, yak pastures, and scattered stone huts.
- The landscape becomes rougher as you reach Lungdeng.
- Overnight at Lungdeng.
Day 7: Lungdeng via Renjo La Pass to Gokyo (5,357 m) via Renjo La Pass, 6 to 7 hours
- For the trek's most difficult and rewarding day, get an early start. Enjoy breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu as you slowly ascend to Renjo La Pass.
- After taking in the views, head down a scenic trail that runs alongside the magnificent third Gokyo Lake toward Gokyo.
- Spend the rest of the night at Gokyo enjoying the night sky view.
Day 8: Gokyo to Dole (4,038 m), 4 to 5 hours
- Start your day with an early hike to Gokyo Ri at an altitude of 5375 m. Enjoy the sun rising over some of the world’s 8000 m high peaks, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Fall back to Gokyo for your breakfast.
- After having your breakfast, descend towards Dole through alpine pastures and glacier-fed streams.
- Overnight stay in Dole.
Day 9: Dole to Namche Bazaar (3,735 m), 5 to 6 hours
- Continue your journey, descending along a beautiful forest of pine, fir, and Rhododendron.
- Along the way, you will cross through some small, traditional Sherpa villages such as Khumjung and Sanasa.
- You will then reach Namche Bazaar, where you will spend your night.
Day 10: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860 m), 7 to 8 hours
- Today, you will be on a long trek as you will move towards Lukla from Namche Bazaar.
- Along the way, you will pass through Tok Tok, Benker, Jorsalle, and Phakding along the Dudh Koshi River.
- In the evening, you will celebrate your successful Renjo La Pass Trek at Lukla and spend the night in Lukla.
Day 11: Lukla to Kathmandu (1,300m), 40 minutes flight
